Cutimed® Cavity
The soft, flexible and conformable Cutimed Cavity foam, with its easy application and residue-free removal capabilities, provides reliable absorbency for deep wounds. While the foam–swelling during fluid uptake helps covering the wound bed.
Intended Purpose
Cutimed Cavity is indicated for the management of chronic and acute deep wounds with moderate to high exudate levels, such as pressure ulcers, deep leg ulcers, cavity wounds, diabetic ulcers, trauma wounds, and postoperative wounds.
Wear time: Cutimed Cavity can remain in place for up to 7 days, depending on wound conditions and exudate levels.
Product benefits
Reliable exudate management
Reliable exudate management for moderate to high exudate levels and a reduced risk of maceration.1
Flexible and conformable
Good adaption to deep exuding wounds due to flexibility and conformability, while foam–swelling during fluid uptake helps covering the wound bed.
Easy application
Can be cut to size, rolled or folded into the wound bed. If required, several layers can be used. Both-side application possible.
Easy removal
Can be easily removed in one piece, with minimised pain, without leaving residue due to high wet tensile strength.1
Can be cut to size
The dressing can also be cut to size, making it as comfortable for the patient as possible.

How to use
1. Clean the wound according to good clinical practice.
2. Make sure, the surrounding skin is dry.
3. Choose an appropriate dressing size.
4. Please ensure, that the pouch is not opened or damaged. Open the pouch and take out the dressing.
5. Aseptically, loosely fold the dressing or roll up the dressing according to the wound shape. If necessary, the dressing can be cut to size. (A)
6. Loosely pack the cavity wound with the dressing (do not fill more than approx. 60 % of the wound). (B) Do not pack the cavity wound tightly, as on absorption of exudate the dressing will expand to fill the cavity wound. (D)
7. Cover Cutimed Cavity with a suitable secondary dressing for example a film dressing e.g. Leukomed T or Leukomed T skin sensitive (C), (D).
8. Cutimed Cavity may be used on an infected wound in addition to antimicrobial therapy under medical supervision.
9. If necessary, Cutimed Cavity can be used in combination with other dressings e.g. Cutimed Sorbact (in case of infected wounds) or Cutimed Gel (for dry, necrotic wounds).
10. Cutimed Cavity can remain in place for up to 7 days, depending on wound conditions and exudate levels. It is recommended to change the dressing every 24 hours initially, moving to less frequent changes as necessary.
How to Remove
11. Carefully remove any additional dressing fixation and gently remove Cutimed Cavity from the wound and discard.
12. If the wound appears dry, saturate the dressing with sterile saline solution prior to removal.
13. If required, cleanse the wound site prior to application of a new Cutimed Cavity dressing.
